Living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, often referred to as OCD, can greatly interfere with a person's ability to function normally. Seeking treatment is often necessary to controlling OCD. There are, however, some steps you can take in your everyday life to cope with OCD.

To control OCD symptoms, try the following:
  • Adhere to the treatment plan prescribed by your doctor and be sure to take your medication as directed.
  • Consider joining a support group.
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs.
  • Stay active and remain social.

Of course, it's important to seek treatment from doctors and psychiatrists when dealing with OCD.
